Hiking in Gunpo (군포)

Yesterday I traveled a bit outside Seoul to Gunpo. I met up with Miriam for some hiking on Suri Mountain. I was excited to go because Columbia, MO isn’t exactly mountainous. Perhaps a few hills, but not much more.

What’s really cool is that there is bug spray free for anyone to use. Also when you’re done hiking there is an air blower thing you use to get rid of any dust/dirt on your shoes or clothes.

Gunpo’s slogan is “with book” and has a very high rate of library card holders. There is a small library in a gazebo just before the hiking trails. It has lots of children’s books and comics. It’s a beautiful place to simply sit and read.

Miriam and I took a trail up to see a small Buddhist temple. There were many small statues of Buddha and one large Buddha statue. The temple had an amazing view of other mountains and overlooked the city.

Also there was this rocky path that you can walk on without shoes. It is supposedly very good for your health. It was painful to walk on, but I hope I benefited health-wise.

I had an amazing time and got some incredible photos. Thank you again, Miriam, for the lovely afternoon! I won’t forget what a beautiful time we had 🙂
